photo-1For a long time, there was a Brother Man poster, from the comic of the same name, hanging in my office at Milestone.

That book was, and still is, one of the greatest comics ever done. Not just of greatest “Black” comics, but greatest comics PERIOD, ever done.

Over the last few days I’ve been on a mission. That mission was to stop a point of view from becoming fact. That “point of view” was the accusation that Milestone’s business plan was in fact stolen from the people who created Brother Man.

It wasn’t. Milestone had been published for almost a year before the “theft” was said to have taken place.

Unless Denys Cowan, Dwayne McDuffie, Christopher Priest, Derek Dingle, and I were all Warlocks and Time Travelers, the task of stealing said business plan was impossible.

Perhaps one of the other partners at Milestone (most likely Dwayne — if ANYONE could build a time machine it would have been him) was a time traveler, but I assure you, stealing business plans would be the last thing on my to-do list if I had a time machine.

My objectives for traveling back in time:

  1. Buy a shitload of Google stock

  2. Buy a shitload of Microsoft stock

  3. Buy a shitload of Apple stock.

  4. Prevent Ted Cruz’s parents from meeting.

I don’t have a time machine, but what I do have are records of just about every important document I’ve ever sent, received, signed, or just read. Not to mention personal journals that goes back to high school.

When I write about something from my past, it’s not just my memory I’m relying on. If that was the case, the following is a good example of what that would look like:

I met Deny Cowan in the 80’s at either Marvel or DC Comics, or perhaps a brothel. Later we started Milestone, and now we are both have Inkpot awards, or just inkpots.

That’s an exaggeration, but not by much.

A few months ago, I was told my friend Lee died. Later, I found out Lee was still very much alive, but the night I thought he was murdered I was beyond devastated, got drunk, and wrote an article about Lee which was 100% from memory and 100% true.

Sort of.

I wrote about how Lee stopped this guy from stabbing me by taking away his knife and cold cocking him. That did happen, but it wasn’t Lee who took the knife and cold cocked the guy — it was a dear friend named Duane who I haven’t seen or (and this hurts to admit) thought about in decades.

That memory was so strong, it wasn’t until I was looking for something else in a journal that I realized it wasn’t Lee but Duane when rereading the entry. Up until that moment, I could have and would have sworn it was Lee.

I ended up getting stabbed in the leg that night, and surely, if not for Duane I would have been stabbed again. But the truth is the truth, and no matter how bad I want to be able to tell the story of how my oldest friend GOT me stabbed in the first place when next we see each other, I can’t because it didn’t happen.

Not to worry Lee — I still have the “it’s a thin line between jail and bait” story.

With the vast amount of business paper trail and journals I have, running a date by me is akin to taking a lie detector test with one huge exception: what I have can be used in court. Memory is a funny thing, and so are some “friends.” Many people who I thought were real friends “liked” on Facebook the accusation that Milestone’s business plan was stolen from the people behind Brother Man.

People have been telling me for days that I’m overreacting.

Some said my reaction was parallel to responding to a flea when I’m an elephant. I was asked over and over again, why was I going buck wild over this?  Those questions irritated the shit out of me, except the one Jason Scott asked: “What in your mind will it take for this to be squashed and no longer require a response?”

A public apology, which we didn’t get. What we got was an acknowledgement from Brother Man that I had “corrected” him on some things.

If he said Milestone came out in 1995, and I said no it was 1993, THAT’S a correction.

What was said was we stole Brother Man’s business plan. That didn’t or couldn’t have happened. I didn’t “correct” him, I told the truth.

Big difference.

Why was I so angry?

No one gets to call into question my integrity and walk away, like this is in high school.

What EVERYBODY is missing, or just doesn’t seem to care about, is the truth.

Who says what about you matters.

Ted Cruz asking to see Obama’s birth certificate and calling into question Obama’s right to be President is one thing. That fucking idiot is only reaching other fucking idiots.

Now, imagine if you will, Colin Powell or Bill Clinton calling into question Obama’s birth certificate and his right to hold the Presidency.

Now imagine they do it tomorrow.

Now imagine NO response from Obama.

Brother Man is one of the great success stories in Black Comic History, and it deserves to be. That book is simply brilliant, and the respect the creators have in the Black Comic space is damn near biblical.

So when the creators of Brother Man speak to something, people listen and with nary a second thought, believe.

Once the original post went up, the sentence written over and over and OVER in the comments was “Thank you for setting the record straight.”

Why was I so angry?

I’ve had lunch to discuss business with Richard Parsons. I’ve spent an afternoon with Bob Johnson in his suite at The Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills, doing the same. Clarence Avant sent me two first class tickets to Los Angeles to meet with me on Ron Sweeney’s advise. Before he died, I met with Don Cornelius and was chosen to write his biography.

Rosamond Bernier called ME her inspiration when talking to kids, and she did that in print.

Jay Bernstein gave me the option on Mike Hammer for a dollar and called me the best dealmaker he ever met.

The Gordon Parks Academy named its auditorium “The Michael Davis Auditorium.” Shit, you think that happened because I drew Shado?

I doubt very seriously if every name I just dropped is familiar to most readers, but being in business with any one of them is an a honor and a privilege.

Reputation is EVERYTHING to people at that level.

This isn’t high school or the hood, where you can talk smack about anyone and then laugh about it later.

I’m in a serious business run by serious people.

Words at this level have very real consequences, and the wrong ones could destroy a life’s work. Even if proven to be untrue, it never goes away. The greatest entertainer in the history of the world will always be a child molester to many people, even when there was LESS than zero proof and only the words of a young boy put up to it by his disgusting mother.

I don’t even have to mention his name — everyone knows who I’m talking about.

That’s what words did to him. And he had the means to fight it. Yet still, there is a shadow over his legacy, and as such the Beatles still have a hold over the greatest thing to happen to popular music because those white boys never got accused of anything as damning as raping a child.

Don’t get me wrong — a bigger Beatles fan than me would be hard to find. But hundreds of years from now, when historians ask the question, “Who was the greatest influence in popular music?” the King of Pop will lose on a technicality, on a lie, spun for no other reason than to make a buck.

If you are to be introduced into the level of power of those to whom I’ve been fortunate to be allowed access, the first thing done regarding you is due-diligence, which may include a serious background check.

Words like thief and liar have real meaning at that level.

Dismiss this as just another Michael Davis self-promoting line of bullshit if you like, and I know some will, but consider this — who do you know that can book 60 hotel rooms two days before Comic Con, in downtown A-list hotels?

Give that a thought for a moment.

It’s not about hotel rooms, or even Comic Con, and if you’re in the entertainment industry and think that’s all it is, then you’re a fucking amateur compared to me. And that’s me being kind when I call you that.

It’s about relationships with people at a level where something like that is possible. If you have to google any of the names on the list above, with the possible exception of Rosamond Bernier, who I admit is a bit off the beaten path of popular culture heavyweights, then you are not ready for the primetime I’m already in. That’s not bravado nor bullshit — that’s the real world of corporate America, the entertainment industry, and the difference between making dinner or making reservations.

If you’ve seen my Facebook rants, you know I alleged what was being said about Milestone were simply lies. I’m not saying that anymore, not because I don’t think it’s true, but because the Brother Man crew deserves at least the benefit of the doubt — although we at Milestone were afforded little, and some of my “friends” offered no support, but “liked” what was being said.photo

So, the “point of view” expressed by Brother Man was inaccurate, and my thanks to them for acknowledging that.

Unless it’s announced that Static Shock was created by them but lost in a poker game (in which Milestone cheated), I’m done.

It pains me that so many people assume Milestone tried and succeeded in pilfering the hard work of another Black company. It pains me more that a Milestone / Brother Man collaboration will most likely never happen now, and that really blows because, God help me, I love that book.

That said, given the chance to sit down with them, I’m there. Yeah, I can’t believe I said that either. I’m trying really hard not to be the dick I’m capable of being. A dick, by the way, is what I’d be called for taking this to a level that involves the words “cease,” “desist,” or “damages.” This is no idle threat — I don’t make those. I’m also trying hard not to judge too harshly or wrongly (I was wrong…once) the people I consider friends who “liked” the accusation in its original post. For all I know, they were liking the essence of what was said, or…nope. That’s just bullshit. I’m trying not to dwell on what reason they liked the post, or why none of them, who liked the post, gave at least a “Hey, can you be mistaken?” in the comments.

So I’ll let that shit go too. Some will still think I’m being a dick, but if I was being a dick, this article would run in my weekly column at Bleeding Cool and my weekly column at ComicMix. Sure, some people are going to forward this when I post it on Facebook, but that’s a drop in the bucket compared to the golden shower of public scrutiny those sites generate. I may be naive and full of hope, but somehow I feel this will stay mostly between the Black comic book community on Facebook and related sites.

Lastly, I’m heartbroken that there are people that would believe something so horrible about Denys, Priest, Derek, or myself, but I’m going to let that go. We four are a part of Milestone, as our friend & partner Dwayne McDuffie was, and in our hearts always will be.

Who would have believed Dwayne McDuffie would take part in something, even if possible, so atrocious?

After the universal outpouring of well-deserved love and respect from all (but especially the Black Comics community) when he passed from this world, who among you would follow and co-sign, like sheep, accusations that Dwayne was a liar and a thief?

Dwayne, who did whatever he could to uplift the Black Comics community?

No one, not Denys, Derek, Priest, or myself, was more Milestone than Dwayne.

Soiling his work, name, and legacy in a blind frenzy without the slightest consideration that what was being said was untrue is unforgivable, and the very definition of what I think it means to be a nigger.

If you’re not there, you just won’t get it. Don’t start none, and there won’t be none.

Make Mine Milestone.

I LOVE Milestone Comics! They are just cool characters and great stories. That’s how I see it from my fan-boy-geek perspective. I like Icon (was that Paragon?) and Static and Hardware And Blood Syndicate, and the so many more.

I understand your desire to defend the truth and the honor of your friends, especially Dwayne (who isn’t here to defend himself). I understand your hurt and anger, especially when this sort of BS is getting tossed around by people that have created a book you admire so much.

I appreciate your subtle shift in tone here.

I hope your upcoming show at the Geppi Entertainment Museum, “Milestones: African Americans in Comics, Pop Culture and Beyond” (opening in Baltimore on December 6) gives you a chance to honor Dwayne and the Milestone crew, as well as Brotherman Comics and their creators. That will give you a chance to permanently set the record straight. And it will give the Brotherman Creators a chance to thank you for recognizing their contribution to “Comics, Pop Culture and Beyond.” There should be no long-standing feud between such talented creators. I hope your show will be an opportunity to end this one.

    ^ THIS ^

Truth? It won’t be denied…and ALWAYS dispels the shadows of its opposite.

It’s a tragedy when good people who ought to remain friends – or at least deeply in alliance together – end up in such a state.

Michael, I believe you. I also believe this was born of an accident of memory failure, and I hope to see fences mended in good time to the benefit of all involved.

If there’s one more good thing to yet come of all this, it’s the accidental creation of the mental image of Dwayne travelling the multiverse in a time machine, righting wrongs of one sort or another. I could imagine it so easily right now…

Why is Dawud Osaze Kamau Anyabwile trying “set the record straight” now?

It seems like sour grapes, on his part, to even bring this up and proclaim that he’s telling the God’s honest truth. Usually when people claim that they want to “set the record straight”, they’re doing any but, and are typically trying to settle a score, which is probably a perceived slight. What they really want to do is alter the truth after so many years (or in this case decades) decades, hoping that fact checking would be difficult.

It’s clear that Denys, Dwyane, Derek, Priest and you had a different, stronger and more coherent vision of what you wanted for Milestone. I remember the first time seeing the Milestone books in the comic stores — in the stores — and with all the bold, new characters and mythology that was unique and executed as the best level. There was a creative jolt each time a new issue hit the stands, and that

Anyabwile has a lot of gall, and on a side note his diatribe is filled with poor grammar.

    Honestly though…

Brotherman was clearly the authentic business model of “black owned” comics that Milestone and their pay masters strategically tried to imitate to ride the band wagon.

This is not so? Really? That’s like New Kids on the Block saying that they were not a vanilla version of New Edition lol. I mean even got da word “New” in their name! Lol

I mean look, this is not really debatable. BM dropped first. Set off an urban comics craze on sum grassroots status and some cats on a corporate payroll successfully sold an idea to their paymasters to cash in by doing an “establishment” version of dat onda ground guerilla isht success that was BM.

Now proving the intent was to bury BM is impossible. But OBVIOUSLY Milestone was just another cooperate institutionalized attempt to co-opt something reala by making it into a more generic easily digestible cornier version for the masses. Almost worked to. Too bad the stuff was so generic and bland that it couldn’t deliver the goods BM’s success conditioned them to want.

Davis admites he was inspired by BM then pointlessly rants how his inspiration did not lead to emulation. How does dat work again? IT DOESN”T. But you know that’s natural. Why get so riled up if Milestone was just benign/almost innocent “plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery” stuff. That’s how stuff spreads organically right?

It makes him look guilty of something when he comes out his neck like this. Like maybe the CLEAR piggybacking of Milestones existence off of Brotherman was not just a natural progression of culture. Maybe there was something else to it.

As a comics fan I have lots of memories of that time to. Memories that like Davis explains can get twisted. Fine. But in my twisted memories I remember articles from the Milestone contingent repeatedly citing how Milestone was the the “right way” for independent black comics to go. The implication was that there was a “wrong way”. My twisted memories recalls clear contention between two camps. The authentic black owned comics and the cooperate comics masquerading as black owned comics.

But again these memories are prolly wrong 🙂

Point being Mr. Davis that your eloquence and passion does not change the simple obvious rational observation that…

Emperor Milestone is rockin his Birthday suit. They tried to Jack BM’s steez and highly likely did some sinister maneuverings in the process. To try to convince hedz that this is outlandish is like trying to prove that big corporations do not do that type of stuff to hard working startups run by black folks.

    LOL
    LMAO
    Good luck witdat fantasy.

    Milestone forever.

Well Said, Michael. And this just adds dimension to why people don’t understand how much work goes into something as well as all the stress and energy applied to the dream you’re focused on… How a person can wreck everything with unproven words and wrong perception. They say in business, “don’t get mad! It’s not personal. It’s BUSINESS. “. But that is the lie from the script the victor uses when they’re ripping your heart out. It’s always personal. And your work as a body defines you. And the thing that annoyed me were the turncoats. The ones that said MAKE MINE MILESTONE, yet pulled out their shovels ready to bury that legacy at but the mere mention of unproven hypothesis.

    What Denys called “Sheeple”.

I posted that when you’re hit with a bat so loud that it’s makes the neighborhood look, at that point it ain’t about proper… Now it’s about rep.

Hopefully after this no one else decides to swing their bats at a hornets nest.

By the way, OMNI is on that Alien Hashish. And knows nothing about what’s going on and doesn’t care. And has no real common sense. Milestone actually pushed the BrotherMan concept to anyone who would listen. Because they wanted African American authors and artists to be taken seriously.
You will never find a quote ANYWHERE where Michael, Dwayne, Denys, Derek, Priest, And any of the staff or artists and writers have ever bashed or turned down an opportunity to champion BrotherMan.

One of these ridiculous fans who’s got the case of keyboard courage trying to start arguments where there are none.

    Omni,

“Davis admites he was inspired by BM then pointlessly rants how his inspiration did not lead to emulation.”

Respecting and acknowledging the significance of the book is far from (as in NOT) stating it was our inspiration. Nowhere in the article was that written.

    I

    DID

    NOT

    SAY

    THAT.

Just like the dates in question which…

    CONFIRM

    AUTHENTICATE

    VALIDATE

    SUBSTANTIATE

    CORROBORATE

    ATTEST

PROVE Milestone did not steal anyone’s business plan ignoring the facts and inventing new meanings for words will not change the facts or the meaning of ‘inspired.’

BTW-NONE of those above words mean ‘inspired’ either.

BM stated Black Enterprise was sent the plan and then turned those plans over to Milestone in LATE 1993. Why? Because according to BM Derek Dingle worked for both Milestone & BE. Because both Black Enterprise Magazine would allow Derek to moonlight at a comic book company. Yeah, that happens all the time in sell out black companies like those.

It’s a well know fact that Eddie Murphy is still a cast member at SNL but he changed his name to Kenan Thompson and no one is the wiser as all black people look the same to the white only audience.
Here’s a recap to make it easier to keep up.

    BM SAID:

    Plan ‘stolen’ LATE 93

    Milestone ‘debut’ FEB. 93

See a bit of a problem with that math?

Unless the months of the year are different where you and Brother Man live (it may be, I’ve never been to the state of denial) your HAL 9000 computer is fucking with you.

I hate to be the person to break this to you but Webster’s Dictionary is still the gold standard for word definitions, you can’t change the meaning of a word to suit your needs because Daniel Webster wasn’t black.

That may work with people home schooled by morons but most people that read WOULDN’T see WHAT IS NOT THERE.

    OH

    MY

    GOD!

I just realized what the problem is!

You ARE getting your word definitions from Webster, but dude it’s the WRONG one! Getting your word meanings from a 7-year-old adorable black kid may work with your peer group but mine prefer the dictionary even if written by a white man.

Yes-I had a poster of BM on my wall because I loved the book. I also loved Vanessa Williams, her Penthouse Poster, a Peter Max Donald Duck painting and a picture of my dog also hung on my wall.

The only inspired moment I ‘stole’ from any of those was Vanessa. If someone wrote I ‘Jacked’ something from Vanessa I’d have to admit, yeah, sometimes.

What you may think, what you may surmise what may make sense to you does not change the facts.

    Milestone IN THE STORES 2-27-93.

BM said we ‘jacked’ them LATE 93.

Ignore that easily proven detail if you will and good luck with doing any business with any serious company that have heard of this new thing called Google.

Just WHAT part of the Milestones Business Plan was stolen from BM when we time traveled FORWARD to LATE 1993?

Our DC sales numbers were second only to the Death Of Superman’ at DC or Massa and SURPRISE our sale numbers actually exist.

You see Massa has these people who do this thing called accounting. Account managers (overseers) tend to write down those numbers and it’s a good thing to! When the white man came calling for the taxes on our cotton picking we were able to pay back quite a bit to the company store.

    OUR business plan featured:

An entire LINE (that means more than one not cocaine) of monthly comic books WHICH NEVER MISSED SHIPPING.

The Milestone Universe featured many characters of color with a focus on African Americans.

DC Comics was our publishing partner.

    Distribution through Diamond.

FINDING new creators of color. Yeah, we put that in the plan.

MANY of the talents Milestone found are today superstars in the industry.

That was part of our undertaking from the very beginning.

Brother Man was ONE (that means less than two) book. A great book but just one.

The creative team was always the same.

The only other thing I know for sure is Brother Man NEVER MADE SHIPPING.

OK-I don’t know that for sure so I’m not going to state it as fact. Instead I’ll ask the question, did they ever make shipping of the one book they did?

Just askin. Because us shiftless niggers at Milestone NEVER MISSED SHIPPING ANY OF THE HUNDREDS OF BOOKS WE PUBLISHED.

That whole ‘shipping to retailors on time thing’ was PART of our business plan.
Seriously I have no idea what was contained in the BM plan and seriously your post contains NO facts just your opinions of people, companies and a level of business you can know nothing of.

I have NO idea what happens or happened in your company, what you did or did not do but somehow YOU know with certainty all things Milestone.

If you want to continue to state your assumption as fact have at it. I however, when calling a spade a spade I will always have written, documented and easily researchable SPECIFICS to offer.

If I say, ‘Dreamworks won’t ever do a Black movie’ I will have something to back it up, most likely the millions of news reports reporting it. You say shit like that all the time and back it up with nothing but air, YOUR AIR.

I’ll say it again, Brother Man is genius.

Saying something that you may well believe and passing it off as fact will never fly in the world where such a thing as proof exists.

Lastly, I’ll say again Milestone never missed shipping. That’s a FACT few if ANY comic book companies can claim.

I’d drop the business plan approach to garnering attention if I were BM. Make enough noise and important people who may have an interest will start to look at HOW business was done by both.

You can’t create new meanings for words for that topic either.

Yeah get behind the multinationals who wrote you a paycheck and gang up on a guy who did it the right way. WOW A REAL LAP TOP HERO! Can I please have your autograph Chris? Ur so effin cool!

    NOT lol

Seriously Chris I bet ur not a bad guy. But ur misguided here and are on the wrong side of the issues. Truthfully, you were the only Milestone artist who had a shred of soul and talent in their work. It stood out to the point where it did not seem like a fit. Like “damn what’s this descent stuff doing in this Wackverse?!” Lol

I enjoyed ur stuff and always thought they should have given you more work.

    Mike…
At this point ur basically Wiley E. Coyote.

You got away with stepping on the land mine meant for the Road Runner. BUT you know in ur heart you wrong. “It can’t be! This thing SHOULD EXPLODE ON MY BUM ASS!”, so you keep jumping on it. Up and down up and down until BOOM! Justice is served.

Guilt demands punishment. If no one in your wack cypha will punish you then you find a way to punish yourself.

And bro…you are punishing yourself. You can’t let this go and you won’t cuz you know in ur heart you wrong for what you did. You can spin and sell it all you want to your sycophants acolytes and lackeys and former employees like Chris and they will have ur back . So what? lol. They on ur team haha. That isht don’t count 🙂

But for everyone else whose got half a brain and a shred of morality (which is admittedly the minority) ur guilty as charged and you will never convince them otherwise.

And u know what Mike..I think YOU have a tiny shred of morality. YOU have half a brain. So you will never convince yourself of ur innocence. You know you are guilty as charged and u gonna blow ur own spot by continually going on about how you’re innocent.

It a lose lose for ya bra. Damned if you do damned if you don’t. Da truf got you comin and goin. It got it like dat. That’s why its called DA TRUF. No escaping it son.
And no one feels sorry for you cuz you brought it on yourself. You made your faustian deal and made ur loot… but there is that little nagging thing…da TRUF lol

And to your credit ur keeping it real by writing these rants to let everyone know the truth. Bless ur heart Mike. You officially have some sense of justice.

So keep pouncing on those land mines Wiley…
    BOOM!!!!!
    Ahhh sweet justice…

And Chris you may want to not be too close to Mr Coyote when he does. I like you. Ur being loyal…but being collatoral damage is not a sexy look lol

    Again,

No facts just opinion-now I’m feeling guilty over something that never factually happened. Man, you know me so well, it’s almost if if you just make shit up. Your ‘truth’ is bullshit. Keep ignoreing facts and assuming you know how I and others feel but your logic is laughable.

Regarding my ‘half a brain’ you may be right with that. Yet, somehow my half a brain was able to ‘jack’ a PhD and still manages somehow to use truth backed up with facts to answer questions.

I did that with half a brain, I’m pretty happy with that as I’m sure you’re happy with what you have achieved with no brain.

    You said “never factually happened”…
    Wow what a Freudian slip.

An innocent man would have NEVER said “never FACTUALLY happened”.
An innocent man would have said “never ACTUALLY happened” lol

But since you are giving me a mulligan I’ll take it.
“Yes Mike all that wack stuff you did never factually happen. But you and I both know it ACTUALLY happened.”

You can keep ur easily manipulated factuals and the rest of da world will rock the immutable self fulfilling truth of the actuals haha

Thanks again for keeping it real and pouncing on yet another land mine Mr Coyote 🙂
    BOOM!!

    As for your academic credentials…
For the higher levels of criminals who populate the “elite” a PhD is practically a prerequisite lol.
Some of the dumbest and stupidest people I personally know got PhD’s. You trying to join dat list or sumthin?
    NOT IMPRESSED.

As for myself I will concede that there is a high likelihood that I have no brain. Thank god whuppin a cornball who smells like a rat is a no-brainer 🙂
In fact I’ll take that as my achievement…I handed a cornball sum licks.
Oh hell who am I kidding…beatin on u like this is not an achievement. Ur not relevant enuf for it to count as that. It’s entertaining as hell tho 😉

In any event brains are overrated. Its all about da heart. I don’t think they hand out doctorates for HEART.

I will bid you adieu. I said my piece.

If it makes you feel better you wrote somewhat convincing missive and debated ur points skillfully. Heck if this were a court of legal law you would win hands down.

I’m past skillful manipulations so I’m immune to your sort of arguing though. But I’ll throw you a bone Mike:
“You are right about everything and all your naysayers including myself are wrong.”
    You have acquitted yourself admirably.
Tell all ur friends you beat some troll named Omni into utter submission.
    Its all good.

You will sleep well I am sure Mr Coyote. Ultimately though we will all answer to that nagging little thing called…

    DA TRUF.

    Simple question:

How did we steal something in late 1993 and use that to publish books in early 1993?

You can’t so you ignore it.

    That should be:

You can’t ANSWER, so you ignore it.

Excuse me, I was distracted. To save you time i’ve written your next post for you:

Mike, LOL, you were distracted, LOL, because you’re a lair and DA truth will set you free. You can’t eat peanuts from the back of a spaceship when everyone knows that Bugs Bunny was with you when you shot Pac.

Your PhD means nothing-I know you are just trying to impress white boys. I keep it real and real brothers can’t be bothered with bullshit paper knowledge. No-we got real knowledge and TRUTH. Keep telling yourself that your vote is counted in these fake ass elections. The truth is every time a black person pulls that lever in the booth the white man injects some ‘control’ beams into our heads.

Truth-that’s why real brothers try and bring down fake ass brothers like Milestone. To get to the level you have (bullshit education and success) your brain must have been stolen and I’m not going to be quiet while you steal from real brothers like me who know the truth.

You not ready for the truth and pickles have souls that you better recognize. Lol,

Yo Neil C.! Dat Omni a herb yo!

He just be poppin mad isht wit nuthin to back isht up son!
Be writin mad letters to yo! “Like damn kid u can’t say sumtin witout typin a novel an isht!”
Hedz ain’t readin like dat! Lol MAn dat omni a corn!

I’m jus playin wit u Neil. Yeah I’m trollin and yeah I’m writin mad much. Still don’t change the fact that I ‘m right though. I’m not above trolling to make a point 🙂

Mike… you don’t strike me as an educated person. I think your PhD is inauthentic like most PhD’s are.

Like most hedz who pass through the hallowed halls of academia you know nothing of the true levels of knowledge-of-self hermetically cosmological empirical initiation that is the essence of the university system. This was formally introduced to the world by the first university in Timbuktu in Mali West Africa. And Timbuktu was proceeded by the even more potent mystery systems.
Timbuktu was the blueprint but unfortunately the blueprint was abandoned when it was gutted of its holistic attributes.

The current university system is woefully inadequate and requires only implementation of empty forms for advancement.
I never mentioned white people. You did. My universe does not center around white folks. I can have a conversation without bringing them up. Can you? Apparently not.

Besides most of the whites you would consider “elite” would be the first to concede to my observations about academia cuz they have less illusions about what their origins are than the blacks who idolize them lol

So basically hundreds of years later a charlatan like you can be initiated as a holder of a degree when you have mastered nothing because you have not mastered self. Like I said…not impressed.

You have the pretense and illusion of initiation but its all hollow. You only have power over those who have submitted to being indoctrinated into the same non-degrees as yourself…which I have not.
You confuse submission to false emptiness with intellect and advancement.
This is why your sense of reality is dubious at best.

    For instance:

    “Simple question:
How did we steal something in late 1993 and use that to publish books in early 1993?
You can’t so you ignore it.”

I ignored it cuz the question is so obviously INSANE that I did not want to dignify it wita response. You looked like a moron even askin it and I was content to let u jump on another landmine and blow urself up AGAIN. BUT to illustrate ur non-grip on reality will indulge your madness:

Brotherman dropped HARD in 1990 and hit da streetz like CRACK lol 1990 Not 1993!

    WOW

So yes I would say 3 years is plenty of time to study emulate and perpetrate based on the proven established and HIGHLY PUBLICIZED content, form, and business model, that Brotherman CLEARLY ESTABLISHED over the course of THREE YEARS.

Sorry I tried to just be content witu pouncin on my landmines and deadin urself for me but I cudn’t help comin out to slay you again Mike.

    Please forgive me bro.

    Omni.

This is no longer fun (and it was fun) for me. By all means say and think what you’d like. Haters gonna hate.

It’s all fun and games until it’s not. You want to keep making this a federal case by all means do so don’t stop here give a interview to anyone you think would like to ‘know the truth.’

    Really.

    I fucking dare you.

    Do it.

Call me a lair, call us liars, say we stole, say I’m ‘mad’ say anything you like.

If you can prove what you say then you have nothing to worry about.

OR…we can just agree to disagree.

Either way I’m done responding to you.

You will get a response if you continue to write things slandering Milestone. However it won’t be from me.

    Michael,

This guy is typical of every troll I’ve ever seen. If you respond it’s “haha I made u mad!” no matter how reasoned and calm your response is. If you don’t respond it’s “ha ha, u r coward.” Either way he feels he won.

Well, it’s obvious that the fool calling himself OMNI is either from the Big City camp or is some middle aged dude with an axe to grind with successful brothers in his moms basement thumbing his mushroom working his keyboard courage with a wet hand and a gooey keyboard.

I don’t even know why you haven’t just erased every reply this dimwad even put down. The only thing he’s won is lost time and cowardice. He’s hust here to cajole and push your buttons. As are most idiots like him with noting else to do.

If he can’t say it to your face, it ain’t said.

To even stoop to this shows his lack of home training. And anyone who accuses you of being a criminal while using a 1970’s moniker like OMNI and not his real name has no weight to even his own garbage.

I’ve brought the point about people not using their real, (or whole name), on other columns, and that was considered an outrageous thing to bring up. Guess it depends on what your posting about.

That was a very dumb troll.

It amazes me that anyone familar with Milestone could find these allegations credible. There is no way to make sense while claiming Milestone conspired with Black Enterprise to steal a business plan, obtained under the cover of an interview in late 1993, for use in establishing a business that began publishing in February 1993. This is not difficult or confusing.

if a hater wants to pretend that the conspiracy with Black Enterprise wasn’t part of the allegation, and perhaps insist that publishing Black superheroes is a “business plan,” in and of itself, not much can be done to heal them.

I was a kid when Milestone made its debut, and from memory I knew the claim was impossible. And besides memory, whiich can certainly get twisted, it took seconds to confirm with Google before I gently said the allegations were nonsense in the Milestone FB group. No time traveling, no theft.

This sounds like a young, not terribly bright white kid doing an imitation of what he imagines a black man would sound like.

The lapse in logic are too numerous to dwell on. I was waiting for him to drop the “I didn’t respond because your point is Just! So! Crazy!” and boom, there it was.

I can almost never ignore these things but I’ll give the advice others would give me–it’s pretty obvious that he is thrilled to death to be getting attention from his better. Since he brings nothing to the table for you to gain from the experience, why bother? Your reputation is little harmed by a punk too gutless to use his real name while spouting off inane insults and pretending it’s all part of his grand roadrunner strategy. Silly little troll.

Save that energy for some of the actual creators in the field who may need to have the smackdown laid on them if they try to drag you down. Hit back with the truth and watch them scurry from the light.
