    Rene, DEFINITELY. There are a lot of artists I know that resist seeking help or getting spiritually/mentally healthy because some part of them thinks they’ll “lose their edge.” I don’t think they’d articulate it that bluntly, but there’s certainly a tendency to justify mental instability for the sake of “good art.”

    I think art flows from a generous, honest soul. That doesn’t preclude heartache and dysfunction, but it doesn’t DEPEND on it either.
