I was wrong, by Michael Davis – Straight No Chaser #171

I was wrong.
I’ve said that a million times in my life.
I’ve been wrong about so many things. I’m sure there are a slew of people reading this who can’t believe I’m saying that because I’m damn near always right.
I have an uncanny knack to see how things will turn out. How they will develop before they develop and truth be told I’m almost never wrong when it comes to things that matter.
I’m a freakin genius to some people because I know so much, or at least people think I know a lot because I can predict an outcome to just about any situation that I know just a few facts about.
Really, and I say this in all seriousness I can pretty much tell you what will happen with any given subject if I know just a few facts about the players involved.
I know I started this column by saying I’ve been wrong about a billion things but truth be told just about every time I’ve been wrong about something it was something trivial like the outcome of the World Series, or rather or not I could make it a couple more miles on a tank that read ‘E’.
Those types of things I’ve been wrong about. Ask me to tell you something that MATTERS and usually I’m spot on.
In my life I have only two absolutes, the first is I KNOW I will never sleep with a man. N E V E R. Look this is cliché but some of my best friends are Gay. I have a crazy amount of gay friends and I think you should be with whomever the fuck you want. I think Gay people should have FULL rights to do whatever they want. I’m all for Gay rights. I just KNOW I will never sleep with a man.
The only other absolute I have is that I will NEVER EVER regret missing a flight. I’ve mentioned this a million times before I HATE TO FLY. The older I get the worst my fear gets. This from a man who has so many frequent flyer miles I give them to people instead of using them my self because I HATE TO FLY.
I could not fly back to the east coast earlier this week to attend Linda Gold’s memorial service because of a migraine that put me in the E.R. I never thought I would regret missing a flight.
I was wrong.
Never in my life have I wanted to be somewhere as much as I wanted to be at that service.
Here’s another cliché but it’s true, tell people you love that you love them. Say it, say it out loud and say it often.
Mike, Adriane, I’m so sorry I was not there for you guys and I love you both and I will see you soon.
The last cliché is this, never say never.

Well, SLEEPING with a man is one thing; HAVING SEX with a man is a whole ‘nother kettle of fish. Let’s not confuse the two.

Feel better, sweetie. And let’s try to remember to get together for the good times, so these sad events aren’t all we have together.

Hope you’re feeling better now, Michael. Robin gets migraines too, they’re no picnic; I can’t imagine trying to board a plane with one.
(Robin is still hoping to hear from you soon, by the way.)
