Moammar No More, by Mike Gold – Brainiac On Banjo #246

As of this writing, it appears an 18 year-old soldier was the one who took Moammar Gadhafi’s gold-plated Scaramanga Special and blew the dictator’s brains into the history books. The kid’s Libyan, so it’s pretty easy to understand how the emotions of the moment might overwhelm due process of law.
If my grandfather had walked into the Fürherbunker and took a stolen Schmeisser and machine-gunned Hitler, Mrs. Hitler, and all the Hitlerettes straight into the Fourth Reich, I would find it hard to believe he might have been arrested and held for trial. More likely he would have been returned to the States to enjoy a lifetime of plucking tickertape out of his thinning hair.
So why is it that so many people are so pissed that Gadhafi got offed before he got his due process as a war criminal? Jeez, can’t we agree that living civilians are better than dead delusional dictators and just move on? But now we’ve got all kinds of U.S. and U.N. inquiries and investigations coming down. How dare some Libyan kid off a murderous bastard who’s been raping his nation and sponsoring global terrorism for four decades?
I’ll tell you what. Let’s put the kid on trial – but only if we can have that trial in Lockerbie, Scotland.
Saddam Hussein, dead. A boatload of Somali pirates, dead. Osama Bin-Laden, dead. Anwar al-Awlaki, dead. And the hits just keep on coming.
There’s no question that our world is safer today than it was only a few years ago, and since that happens to be the place I live, I just can’t get all bent out of shape about Gadhafi getting justice before some kid read him his Miranda Rights.
As a famous actor once said, sic semper tyrannis. This time, it works.

I hope that 18 year old kid gets into politics in his homeland. He obviously has his head on straight.

And thanks for cutting out the bloody part of the picture. Surgery is necessary, but I don’t necessarily want to see the specifics.

The conspiracy theories I’ve heard postulate that he was killed so he couldn’t testify and thereby verify what the Wikileaks claimed about the connection between the US power-elite and his own crimes.
I love a good conspiracy theory.

I rarely put much into conspiracy theories — what appears to be a conspiracy is often merely acts of mutual convenience. Mo got a bullet because it was the safest way of ending a 42 year long dangerous asshole streak.
However, if you’re looking for a good conspiracy, Wikileaks bit the bullet about the same time Mo got his. http://news.yahoo.com/assange-financial-blockade-may-close-wikileaks-183035025.html

Gadhafi chose to take this fight to the mat. He could have tapped out and left the country, but he elected to go down fighting. It was a little late to say, “Wait! I changed my mind!”

Sooooooo, I guess when Obama gets those 3am phone calls he does what Bush couldn’t in 8 years.
But alas, the GOP will now say that killing Terrorists is UN-American.

MOTU, the TeaPubs are too busy bitching about our leaving Iraq.
Assholes.

Leaving Iraq on the time table set by Bush, mind you. Yeah the only thing that makes less sense is them bitching about us staying in Iraq. Which they were doing until they realized we were leaving Iraq.
I’m SO glad I didn’t marry my sister.

Fewer lives would have been lost if we had acted more decisively sooner in Libya! Or maybe the opposite! Whichever Obama didn’t do was what we should have done! And look! Now they’re gonna have Shara law! That’s because Obama is a Muslim!

Not sure what “Shara” law is. I meant “Sharia”.

When Italy was liberated during the waning days of World War II, Mussolini and his mistress were captured, executed and hung by Italian partisans. What’s the big deal regarding Gadhafi? Has this world become so politically correct that it is no longer OK to bump off a viscious dictator and despot?
Bah, humbug!

And the people of Italy probably liked Mussolini a lot more than the Libyans liked Gadhafi.

Rick,
Shara law is enforced on Shara’s pussy husband.

If Obama gave one of his kidneys to Eric Kantor’s kid, the Tea Party would denounce him and call it socialism.
Not that Eric Kantor would accept it. The kid might get a sudden hankering for KFC and collard greens. That ain’t kosher, y’know?
Fuck them.

You said, “Fuck them.”

Wait a moment, Mindy. If Obama gave Kantor a kidney (not his kid; I’m not quite that cruel) and Kantor got sickle cell anemia, the TeaPubs would call it murder.
