Inexcusable Things, by Arthur Tebbel – Pop Art #229 | @MDWorld

Last week I gave an interview with Asif Mandvi for The Daily Show on the topic of the new voter ID law in North Carolina. In this interview I said a lot of things that people seem to have found objectionable including using racial slurs and calling black people lazy. I also called in to question if college students should be able to vote in our state despite long-standing legal precedence saying they can and should be able to. In the wake of this interview I have been forced to resign as a precinct official in the Buncombe County Republican Party. Is this fair? Isn’t this just one more gotcha attack from the liberal media? Help me out here.

Don,
The things you said were pretty disgusting all the way around but that’s not what really gets to me about this story. Why the fuck were you talking to The Daily Show you dumbass? They’ve been doing exactly this for 17 years. They find ignorant morons and make them look really bad on camera. You’re in politics, why would you do an interview with someone without typing the name of the show or the person interviewing you in to Google?
I could not possibly have less sympathy for you here. You could have kept your head down and been racist and stupid and undemocratic for the rest of your life. Hell, you probably could have lucked in to some kind of local elected office if things broke the right way. If only there had been more examples of far right conservatives opening their mouths about their unpopular or racist opinions that you could have looked to. Not only can you not use Google but also you have apparently not watched the news or read a newspaper in the last two years. I’m honestly not sure in what way a person with your level of ineptitude was serving the Republicans of Buncombe County.
You’re also a miserable shitbag. You aren’t even dragging out the tired (and unprovable) stuff about illegal immigrants voting or mass amounts of people voting twice you’re just asserting that lazy people (and primarily lazy minorities) shouldn’t be allowed to vote. You seem completely unaware (or don’t seem to care) that there are stunningly complex reasons that some people tend to have identification and other people don’t. It’s strange to say that being a vile racist is only your second worst quality but you’re amazingly ignorant and while the two might be related I have to go with that one. I sincerely hope that by kicking you out of the party the Buncombe County Republicans are in a better place. I don’t think that’ll be true but it feels good to hope.

I have to hope that The Daily Show disguises itself in some way. I know Howard Stern’s people used to ask if they could get an interview “For K-Rock”, or some similar Not Actually A Lie.
Because yeah, if you’re told you’re going to be on The Daily Show, you deserve everything you get. Or it means you don’t have a television, a computer, or friends.
