The image is of my dear friend Amber and her son on the beach in her beloved Hawaii.

Amber is an original.
People say that about other people all the time, but I don’t.

She is so original that once she said something to me in passing, and to her it was just another Amber observation. To me, it was brilliant.

That “Amber” moment was enough for me to get Amber a book deal. Amber was not, nor had she ever thought about being, a writer. What she wrote and how she wrote it is as original as Amber. She calls me “boss.” I call her “my Amber” because often I have no idea what she is saying to me. When I tell her I have NO idea what she is talking about, she will explain it in such a way that I will understand her previous statement, but not the new one.

Don’t ask how that’s possible because I have no idea. That’s why I call her “my Amber.”

I’m about to do something I’ve never done as long as I’ve been writing. I’m going to ask you to pray for someone.

Pray for my friend Amber because she’s in the fight of her life.

Her family can’t lose her.

Her son can’t lose her.

Her best friend Jasmine can’t lose her.

I can’t lose her.

You can’t lose her.

Whether or not you know her, the WORLD needs the light that is Amber.

So please, if you pray, and even if you don’t, do so for our Amber.

Amber —  it’s not time to go, you have lots more work to do.

You can’t leave early without the boss’ permission, and you do NOT have it.
