I stated previously that the EthnoSurreal is as much a place as it is a concept, “a place where animated objects and things are more human – and even more humane – than many people encountered in everyday life.” A place, not purely imaginative, but filtered through lens of cultural bond interpretations of personal experiences and a plethora of stories. These stories can be histories, mythologies, tall tales, or urban legends. But what a story can be is less important than what it is … to the giver and the receivers.

All of these stories contain characters with voices that tap into both the banality and the fantastical in everyday life. Still, in all of my musings about stories, I never asked the characters what they thought …
