The Michael Davis World (MDW) website is nearing its 1 year anniversary October 31st. It’s amazing how fast time flies! MDW grew out of adversity when ComicMix.com changed to an all news format, leaving many of the columnists without a home on the internet. The site has seen many Contributers, layouts and server changes. As I was working on the technical and design side of the website, I was impressed with the columnists and their ability to share their unique perspective and open up about their personal issues and outlooks inspired me to start my column, In The Mix.

I have to admit I was very nervous starting the column because I tend to be a very private person. Despite my gregarious, social butterfly persona at conventions and meetings, like many artists, I’m very quiet and introspective about personal issues. Writing the column about my path as an emerging artist has been a release for me and helped with my growth being a part of this amazing community.

I have to admit that the last few months, I haven’t been as revealing as I was in the beginning. It’s been a time of transitions and I’ve been held captive by my introspective nature.

Talk about a creative block!

Sometimes it’s easier for other people to see a clear path and shuffle through your ideas when you are looking too close. Determined to push through and take my business to the next level, I had a light bulb moment about a month ago when I met with a talented client of mine . I took each of her concerns and needs and instantly came up with many creative and business solutions. The excitement on her face and sense of relief that came over her from the new marketing plan inspired me to take a hard look at my business and rejuvenate my creativity. And rejuvenate I have!

In the last week, I have been making a lot of movement in an effort to take my business to the next level. Leading up to my launch party in November- which will officially mark the next step in my career, I will be taking my readers on this journey with me as I enter a new chapter in my life and share the trials and tribulations that go with being a artist, designer and new business owner.

I’ve already had several meetings and I’m so excited about my journey! See you next week!
