How To Control Your Emotions, by Q. Reyes – Artistic Warfare #67

Emotions are not real. They’re fleeting moments of uncertainty. If you’re guided by your emotions, then get ready to make a lot of mistakes in your life.
Emotions provide happiness as well as sorrow. They can make you feel good or they can make you feel horrible. You don’t have a choice on how or when they affect you. All you can do is enjoy the ride, or not.
Even the food you eat affects your mood and emotions. Coffee can make you feel good at first, before making you crash into a headache. People do drugs to try to control their emotions – this is only temporary. Your emotions will creep back up soon as they get a chance.
So the question is… how do you control them? The answer is simple… you don’t!
You have to let your emotions be. Leave them alone and they’ll leave you alone. Eat the right foods to assist you in not paying attention to your emotions. Live a healthy lifestyle and don’t let guilt take over your self-perception.
But it’s not all bad news…
Emotions can be swayed in a particular direction by successfully achieving goals that you set for yourself – the harder the goal, the bigger the accomplishment, the more positive the emotion.
It doesn’t have to be a huge goal to sway your emotions; it could be as simple as cleaning your car or house, or doing laundry. The point is to accomplish something you deem good and productive.
When I mentioned before about eating the right foods, it means that there are foods that help you release the “right” chemicals in your brain that allow you to feel a certain way. I have proven this in my life, based on my own research, and have come to the conclusion that McDonald’s cheeseburgers don’t do much when it comes to making me feel good. Now, I have had a great steak that has made me feel like a million bucks. You pick and choose what foods make you feel good.
Finally, the best way to control your emotions is to realize that everything in this world is temporary, including your emotions. They go away. If you’re happy, you will experience unhappiness – and vise versa, if you’re unhappy, you certainly will experience happiness. The middle ground is the place to aim. Real happiness lies within contentment.
