The panels will be held at Comic-Con International 2010. July 22-25, 2010 (Preview Night the 21st) at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
BTW-before any smart asses write in about my white friend Tony being on the Black Panel (B.P.) consider this, Mike Richardson, Marv Wolfman and our very own Mike Gold have graced the B.P. ( the GOOD B.P not that other B.P) with their presence as well as other’s who were not black.
The Black Panel is NOT a forum for just Black People, it’s a forum about Black Entertainment and who is doing notable work in film,TV, comics, music, etc. The secondary focus ( just as if not more important) is to reach out to as many young creators of color ( and all young creators who strive for a way in) and give them access to those who have made a contribution.
I’ve said this before but it bares repeating, Black culture IS young culture.
Now that I’m on this particular subject I’ll say this-what the hell is up with the people who HATE on the Black Panel?
I’ve had some of the biggest names in ALL entertainment on the panel and after a brief introduction of each allowing each to say what they want we then immediately open the floor to questions.
Note the Ad-I don’t moderate I HOST. It’s really the people’s panel. All I really do-( besides being cute, funny as hell, smart, witty with the juice to pull together some of the biggest stars in the world) is point to the next person with a question. I DON’T even pick those people at Random-they wait in line for the mike and I make it a point to get to everyone. If someone gives a speech instead of asking a question I ever slow nicely (hah) hurry them up a bit. 😉
So how can you hate on this?
But I digress, sorry Peter…
To my point about Tony. He created one of the greatest Black characters in pop culture, Black Lighting. It would be an honor to have Tony on the panel.
Tony — Just the usual insane methhead clusterfuck that will dump $163 million into the appreciating local economy. If I go this year ($$$, plus I really need a rest), I’m planning on dressing us as Adam Strange. Instead of rocketpacs, though, I’ll be wearing oxygen tanks. However, the ray guns will be real.

@Mike: If you’re wearing oxygen tanks, you’ll have a better reason than the creeps with backpacks. However, it will hurt even more to get hit in the face with them.
Well, it gives me a year to figure out how to pay for the trip. But it would be my honor to be on the panel and I’ll do everything I can to make it to SD next year.

Reg,
In the black entertainment industry he’s know as ‘Sir Duke’. But THE Duke works just as well.

There is only one THE Duke.
And his name is Earl.

mOTu – No sir.. What was (insert bold italic) I THINKING?? I rightly submit to Mike’s backhand.
Consider me properly chastened…and Mr. Bill ‘Sir’ Duke’s appellation appropriately adjusted.

I can’t afford the trip this year, but I’m hoping my fortunes improve for next year’s event.
I speak, of course, of The Black Panel.
Is there anything else going on in San Diego that weekend?

Martha, that’s very true. Linda wanted a ban on back-packs at all comics conventions; that was, and remains, a brilliant idea.

Tony,
It my honor to officially invite you to be the very first guest at the 2011 Black Panel. That gives you a year to learn to dance.
BTW-that dance comment was a joke intended for the haters…just buy some pants that hang down to your ankles…
The invitation, no joke.
