Today the Earth trembles, splits and the seas swell…in Azeroth. December 7th marks the day the 3rd World of Warcraft expansion (Cataclysm) hits shelves. Servers went live at 12am PST and millions of nerds and geeks decided it was a good day to call in sick. Warcraft is an MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) where players control a character avatar (also referred to as a toon) within a game world in third- or first-person view, exploring the landscape, fighting various monsters, completing quests, and interacting with non-player characters (NPCs) or other players. Also similar to other MMORPGs, World of Warcraft requires the player to pay for a subscription, either by buying prepaid game cards for a selected amount of playing time, or by using a credit or debit card to pay on a regular basis.

Admittedly, I play the game and love it. So if you know anyone who plays, know it’s like Christmas or Chanukah today for them.

Secondly, if they aren’t playing Warcraft, they are out getting their copy of Inception, which hit stores today on DVD and Blu Ray. If you have not seen it, you must pick it up. Inception was brilliantly crafted and is easily one of the best Science Fiction films in the last 10 years. Inception will have you thinking back on it for at least a week. Good stuff.

I’ll leave you with a viral video that never gets old. This kid throws a fit because his mother canceled his World of Warcraft account…classic.
