The Flintstones, by Michael Davis – Straight No Chaser #215

What would you call the Flintstones if they were black?

Niggers.

That’s funny.

Come on YOU know it’s funny.

I am not one of those Black people who think the word nigger should be outlawed. I use the word a lot.

When I’m telling a joke I use it…

What would you call the Brady Bunch if they were Black?

Niggers.

When I’m mad I use it.

When I’m rapping along to Jay Z I use it.

When I’m in a good mood I use it.

When I’m in a bad mood I use it.

I use the word with my White friends; I use the word with my Black friends.

Admittedly there are a lot of Black people who do not use the word Nigger and they have the right to not say it all they want.

I have nothing but respect for those niggers.

That’s a joke BTW.

Last week a prominent member of The GOP, Marilyn Davenport sent around a photo of President Obama depicted as a monkey child being held by monkey parents.

Whitney is her usual elegant way wrote a wonderful piece earlier this week about this subject.

As you know, I’m neither elegant or wonderful so I’m going to call a spade a spade, Marilyn Davenport is a racist old bitch and The GOP should (they won’t) pimp slap her out of the party and denounce her actions.

Let’s be real-I can use the word NIGGER until I’m blue (that will be the day) in the face because I’m BLACK. That’s the reality.

I love the following argument from some white people; “Rappers use the word all the time so we should be able to use it.”

Really?

The BIGGEST rapper in the world is Eminem.

He does NOT use the word. When he was 16 he recorded a song with the ‘N’ word and he’s still apologizing for it.

Why does he not use the word? Because he’s a white guy.

He KNOWS its taboo.

Marilyn Davenport KNEW the photo was racist. She’s 74 years old she grew up in the 50’s when niggers in the back of the bus were all the rave.

Two ladies I love, one black, one white took me to task over Marilyn Davenport earlier this week on Facebook. My dear white friend told me she was a Tea Party member and she was not racist. She also said that there are Black speakers at Tea Party rallies. She then told me that there has never been a racist sign at a Tea Party rally.

I KNOW she’s not racist. I know ALL Tea party members are not racists.

Regarding those Black speakers my response was during the Civil War there were house slaves that did not want to be free either because Massa was good to them.

No racist signs at Tea Party rallies?  Sure-and there’s no fucking in porn movies.

Just so I’m clear-my problem and why I’m SO hard on the GOP and The Tea Party is the overwhelming SILENCE from the party leaders when monkey photos of the BLACK PRESIDENT shows up. I’m also PISSED at the devastating SILENCE that comes from the same party leaders when it comes to bullshit Death Panels and Obama not being born in this country lies.

Does Donald Chump REALLY think that the CIA and the FBI vetting of Obama was somehow fixed?  I can’t get away with an extra bag of peanuts on a plane but Obama can get away with being born on Mars and the CIA and the FBI missed that?

GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK.

Chump knows it’s bullshit but he’s appealing to the ignorant rank and file of the GOP and he’s race baiting.  Someone mentioned to me that President Reagan was often depicted with or as a monkey so how is Obama different?

It’s all satire right?

Wrong.

Reagan did a film called Bedtime for Bonzo in which his co-star was a chimp. Reagan was being made fun of because his CO-STAR was a fucking chimp.

D U H ! !

So I guess if Reagan made a film called I love watermelon then depicting Obama eating watermelon in front of the White House would be OK also.

BTW- Marilyn Davenport supported another high ranking GOP member when he emailed a photo of a watermelon patch growing in front of the White House.

I guess that wasn’t racist either. Marilyn Davenport calls herself a Christian; I wonder how she would feel about a picture of Jesus giving Judas a hummer?

And I’m not talking about a freakin truck.

When some in the GOP and Tea Party leaders do speak it’s to pour fuel on the racist rhetoric that the ignorant rank and file believes because they saw it on Fox News.

Fox ‘News’ once referred to Michelle Obama as ‘Obama’s Baby Mama.’

They knew that was racist and where was the outrage from the GOP leaders?

No idea.

My black lady friend told me that Marilyn Davenport was just sharing the email with some friends and she reminded me that I make racist jokes all the time with my friends. She’s right, I do.

But I’m not an elected official.

I make Asian School Girl jokes all the time. In fact I often ask my black lady friend to dress up as an Asian School Girl. I know it’s a joke, she knows it a joke but I doubt if that would go over even in jest if I were on a school board.

BTW-if she ever says ‘yes’ I don’t know what I’ll do…BULLSHIT I know exactly what I would do! Trust me Karman it would be the BEST three minutes of your LIFE!

This is a free country. We can say whatever we want about whatever we want.

That’s a fact.

You can get KILLED yelling ‘West Side’ at an East Side party in the hood.

You can get killed drawing a cartoon of a certain God because there are crazy motherfuckers who see that as a problem.

I think both of the above are stupid. But I’m not stupid enough to try my luck by exercising my rights and going there.

That’s reality.

Marilyn Davenport got caught. The Craig’s List Congressman got caught. Because of who they are and what they represent they are being called out as a racist and a man whore.

Yes, I KNOW that not all people in the GOP and the Tea Party are racist. Marilyn Davenport is  (in my humble opinion) a fucking racist and if she was the only one who was in the Tea Party or the GOP that would still be to many for me.

That goes for liberals also.

Now-where the Asian School Girls AND the White women at?

The parallel I understand is Israel. As a Jew, I reserve the right to be tremendously embarrassed by Israel’s bad behavior. If you’re not a Jew, I will wonder why you have the same feelings.

It’s always different when someone outside the family says something.

Davenport and her ilk would be right at home in Bedrock, where you were more likely to see a green person than a black person.

When telling a joke, the following rules are always followed, even if you don’t know you’re doing it.

    1) Is it, in fact, funny?

    2) Is it worth the shitstorm if I am caught telling it?

The answer to both for this photo is “no”.

There’s no “other way” you could take this one. The storyline of the joke is “Obama is a monkey, and so were his parents”. That’s not even funny.

Plus, the connection of “monkey” to a derogatory term for our black and brown bretheren renders any use of the word, however oblique and innocently intended, guilty by association. It doesn’t MATTER that there may or may not be a resemblance, the joke is not worth the explanations and qualifications.

Plus, back to rule one, it’s not FUNNY enough to take the trip.

HERE’S a version of that joke that passes both rules….

Who’s gonna be offended by that, I ask you?

Thank you for saying all Tea Party people and members of the GOP aren’t racists. I’m so tired of being called a racist because I don’t like Obama. I didn’t like Kerry, Clinton, or Gore either. I’m not a Democrat and they don’t share my values. That’s it. I wouldn’t vote for Hilary either, but I have no problem with a woman becoming President. Just not that woman. Thank you for talking about the issue at hand and not using a broad brush.

As for the picture; it was disgusting and I was sickened when I saw it. I’ve heard the jokes you mentioned since one of my best friends was the one who told you it. 🙂 And you laughed like a motherfucker! Thank GOD you have facets, because there is nothing more boring than overly PC people. However, this picture is over the top. And the lesson learned is: like naked pictures, whoever you are, don’t send them out. If you’re a racist, keep it to yourself and your few friends. Don’t advertise it like an idiot. She should be fired just for her stupidity, not to mention she represents a group and therefore her actions will be taken as such.

I have to admit, I learned more about what great things Martin Luther King did via the Glenn Beck show than 30 years in Los Angeles. There are many blacks I admire and tons of whites that I don’t. Truthfully, I try to be colorblind. It’s not that hard for me because I grew up in an era when being a white person and even thinking anything disparaging about a black person was frowned upon, and that’s ok. It taught me to be discerning about my beliefs, and not judge a book by it’s cover.

MOTU — I think you were on to something when you pointed out Davenport’s age, just like Whitney was on to something when she talked about certain parts of the L.A. area. A black friend of mine in L.A. in his early 60s said he’d never seen racism — nor heard the N-word — like he did when he came to L.A. as a teenager.

It wasn’t any better in the overwhelmingly Democratic Chicago during the 1950s and 1960s (and 1970s… and 1980s… and), either, so one’s political affiliation wasn’t the issue. It was racial intolerance, not political intolerance.

And I learned a long time ago as a young man growing up in Chicago that even people of the same race were racists against each other. For example, Puerto Ricans I knew hated to be mistakenly called a Mexican (and vice versa); black Americans disliked black immigrants like Haitians, Africans, etc. (and vice versa); if you mistakingly called a Japanese person Chinese, you’d offend them big time (and vice versa); and if you mistook an Italian guy as Polish, you’d probably get your teeth knocked in (and vice versa).

So, while I’ve always thought racism across racial lines was stupid, I thought racism among people of the same race was the stupidist of all. Yet it persists to this day — ESPECIALLY abroad.

    Go figure.

Yes. The Three M’s are sometimes VERY bad influences.

Why does he not use the word? Because he’s a white guy.

No. The last official reason Em gave for his not using the word has jacksquat to do with “taboo.” His statement was that he’s not black and he has too much “respect” for his fellow (black) rappers to offend them.

Now, if the fucker just had as much respect for women and gays, and not use words like bitch, whore and faggot in any of his raps. It’s especially disgusting that he actually has used a number of misogynistic words when referring to his own daughter’s mother; IMS, he was lambasted by women’s groups over a song allegedly dedicated to, or about, his daughter and he let loose with a series of misogynistic comments in the “song” against the girl’s mother.

Now, of course, Em isn’t alone in his use of slurs against others but it IS a serious double standard that allows his fellow (black) rappers to “nigger” this and “nigger” that as much as they want in addition to all the male rappers getting away with “bitch” this, “ho” that.

When Em formally apologizes to gays and women for his use of “taboo” words that diminish gays and women, then we can agree that he doesn’t use “nigger” because it’s “taboo.” Until then, that doesn’t fucking wash.

(In fact, the ONLY good thing that Eminem has ever produced was “Stan” and that was ONLY because he introduced the far-more talented Dido to American audiences. Aside from that, I have absolutely no use for Eminem.)

Key words, ‘He’s not black.’ That’s what I said.

Well, as far as the N-word is considered, i believe its offensiveness is measured by region. And by gthat i mean, if one was to enter a foreign region, and call an african american a nigga, and he or she was not one – at the very least they’d get their butt beat. At very most, they’d get their ASS FUCKED UP!!! AND get 6 million hits on Youtube. AND have Russ come to ur defense.

But if a person (NO MATTER THEIR COLOR) was native to a region such as, oh, i dont know THE BRONX, you could call an african american a nigga and they wouldnt shoot you:) seriously, I think racism is stupid AND i think if you think giving power to words like nigger, spic or cracka is equally stupid. we should be able to use them w whoever:)

‘But I have no clue how to be a 26 year old in this century.’

No one born in the 50’s 60’s or 70’s knows. I remember a commercial when I was a kid. In the Ad Abraham Lincoln was interviewing for a job. The slob conducting the interview told him since he did not finish ‘school’ then there was no job for him. The commercial was a public service Ad that promoted hiring people who had experience and talent but no degree.

In other words it’s not where you went to school it’s what you know.

This commercial was before background and credit checks were common place after your job interview. If Abe could not get hired THEN-NOW he would be homeless.

Gone are the days when you could get a shot based on sheer talent and drive. If you don’t have the degree most companies will not even interview you.

    Period.

I’ve written and/or produced TV shows and books, ran divisions at major companies, written curriculums and created reading programs for private and public schools. I’ve lectured all over the world and I have no degree that says I should be doing ANY of that. My degree’s are in art. An art degree gives you NO pull running, writing, producing anything except something art related and even then it’s a long shot.

Everything I’ve been able to do is because I figured out how to do it or found someone to give me an ‘in.’ In a few years I’m confident I will have the resume to support running a studio which is my ultimate goal. Hey-go big or go home.

Denys Cowan has a goggle alert for his name. Well-Denys spells his name a unique way so he gets alerts that 99% are about HIM.

My name is Michael Davis when I tried that all I get is a slew of hits of Michael Davis’ that are 100% NOT ME. In fact most of those Michael Davis’ have committed some kind of crime.

Credit checks, background checks and the like now have just as much if not MORE pull in a decision to hire you as your resume and references.

The problem with the ‘checks’ is you can’t explain why you were arrested when you were 12 or why City Bank tried to have you killed. Don’t think the people reviewing your file are smart enough to figure out these may be mistakes. I was once pulled over and the cops ran my name. The told me they were taking my car because I was driving on a suspended license and had been for 20 years. I told them it wasn’t me and they said it WAS me. I told them 20 years ago I was 8 and I was.

    They still took my car.

I still hire people based on what they know and my sure fire method question-would they be fun to hang out with at Christmas?
