How sick are we of politics these days?  This debt ceiling posturing is not only annoying, but involves numbers and math, so we, as Americans, don’t want to think about it.  And if we don’t want to think about tit, I sure as hell do not want to write about it.

I want to go away instead.  And so, I shall.

But not to any place where a legal, responsible adult with cash cannot get a drink. Instead, I’m going to California.

Alas, I’m not going to get to see The Black Panel, but it does mean I get to skip the Comic-con mob.  I’ve had fun at San Diego, but not in this century.  I don’t think I want to go back until I’m a movie star and have my own security.  It’s not that I’m swarmed by fans.  It’s just that, as a short woman, I can’t get through the crowds, and, as a New Yorker, I want them to get the fuck out of my way.

Instead, I’m going to Disneyland! Yes, that sounds like a contradiction, because Disney is pretty much synonymous with crowds.  However, we’re only going to one event, and we have reservations for that.  We’re even staying over!

And then I’m going to stay with my friends, who live near my son.  My friends not only have a guest room (which my son does not), but they also have excellent coffee, a deep pool, adorable cats, and a stocked refrigerator.  With luck, we’ll get to go to the movies and see films that would otherwise be sold out except now there are 100,000 of my fellow geeks in San Diego.

We’ll go out to eat, and maybe we’ll shop some.  Doing my bit for the American economy.  I’m one of those job creators.
