I’m Tired 2, by Q. Reyes – Artistic Warfare #104

February 5, 2012 Q. Reyes 0 Comments

Back in 2009 Massachusetts state senator Robert A. Hall published a letter saying he was tired, and then he went on ranting against Muslims and other people.  For a while, people spread the rumor that Bill Cosby wrote that letter, but that wasn’t the case.

Well, I’m tired too, but about way different things.

I’m tired of banks taking money from poor people to pay rich people.  I’m tired of people overdrawing their account by two dollars to be charged thirty.  I’m tired of banks bouncing checks multiple times in order to charge a fee each and every time.  I’m tired of banks not giving loans to people that need them and paying interest to people that don’t need it.

Just because I’m for the poor, does not mean I’m against the rich.  I’m against injustice.  Rich people should keep their money, but poor people shouldn’t be forced into debt.  I’m tired of rich people complaining about the economy while poor people can’t afford to live regardless of how good or bad the economy gets.

I’m tired of companies that provide telephone, cable or internet services screwing people over with BS contracts.  I’m tired of every new bill having a new charge. I’m tired of big companies harassing people that used their credit cards to buy groceries for their families and now they can’t afford to make the minimum payment, then they charge them a late fee and higher interest rates and that amount becomes greater than the amount that they owed to begin.

I’m tired of high schools teaching kids how to put a condom on a cucumber but not showing them how to open a bank account, how to use an ATM card, or how to take care of their credit.  I’m tired of teachers complaining that they don’t get paid enough, so they use that as an excuse to give a sub par job performance.

I’m tired of day cares in high schools.  It used to be that if you had a baby and you were in school, then you would take your ass home and take care of your kid.  No one told you to go get pregnant so that you have something to play with.  A kid is not a toy, and yes, it’s supposed to change your life. That’s your responsibility. People don’t deserve for your day care.  Stay home with your kid and stop taking up space and resources from kids that actually want to learn and do something with their lives.  If you want to be successful too, then you’ll have to work twice as hard because there are two of you. Don’t blame the world or the government; blame your horniness and your parents not teaching you better.  On the other hand, I’m also tired of teenage girls using abortions as a form of contraceptive.

I’m tired of minorities on Television always being depicted in messed up situations or in horrible lives.  Sort of like when the Germans used to depict the Jews in a bad light as part of their propaganda, it’s a bit comparable of what’s going on in American television today.

I’m tired of the local news reporting someone assaulted, robbed or murdered someone and then saying the suspect is a “Latino with a mustache” or a “Black man with short hair”.  That could be anybody.  No wonder people are afraid.

I’m tired of American soldiers still getting killed everyday overseas, yet all we see is the weather girl skirt getting shorter and Dallas Raines getting tanner.

I’m tired of people settling and thinking their lives are as good as they get.  I’m tired of people asking for handouts.  I’m tired of people blaming the system for being unemployed.  I’m tired of people not starting their own business and blaming the government.  If you have a quality product or service, someone will buy it.  Stop waking up at noon complaining that your bank account is overdrawn and then smoking weed the rest of the day so that you can cope.

I’m tired of envious people that hate other people who work hard because it makes them look bad.  I’m tired of people who haven’t read two pages of a book in the last ten years and then complain that their lives suck.  You don’t need a school or college to be educated.  There are books everywhere!  You don’t need a teacher; all you need is motivation, self-discipline and a willingness to learn.

I’m tired of writing this.

You know what I’m tired of? I’m tired of people trotting out idiotic lies, worthy of something from FoxNoise, and promoting the comment as though there’s any validity to the bullshit. If you haven’t guessed, I’m referring to this comment: “On the other hand, I’m also tired of teenage girls using abortions as a form of contraceptive.”

You know what? This is beyond a fucking lie. This IS something you’d expect one of the bubble-heads from FoxNoise (or worse, from one of the Teabagging Republicons) to spout without backing it up with a single shred of factual evidence. (Kind of like the GOP trope about the need for “voter ID” laws when the only people who’ve been committing voter fraud have been GOPers or conservative “allies.” I’ll point you to Indiana’s GOP Secretary of State–the guy who’s in charge of all things election-related in Indiana. Or James O’Keefe who felt it was so important to document the ease with which voter fraud can be committed that he committed voter fraud himself to document voter fraud IN THE NEW HAMPSHIRE GOP PRIMARY.)

I’d also like to point out that, in your little diatribe, you seem to have forgotten that IT TAKES TWO TO MAKE A BABY. Where’s your “tired” for all the high school (possibly even college) boys who can’t fucking keep it in their pants or take some responsibility and use those fucking condoms (apparently, those teachers aren’t doing a very good job in demonstrating how to use a condom since their male students can’t figure out how to keep their girlfriends from getting pregnant)?

And while we’re on the topic of teachers, how about telling us how tired you are of moronic politicians who use teachers as little more than props? (You might want to do a search on the name Shadrach McGill. He recently explained how teaching is a “calling” and therefore, teachers should be happy with low pay because if they got raises, well, that might cause people to go into teaching for the money. Bear in mind, he apparently believes that being a politician is not a “calling.”) The real problem is that politicians love to blame teachers for how poorly students are doing in the schools but, at the same time, these politicians aren’t doing anything that would help teachers actually do their job. Most teachers spend far too much time teaching kids how to pass the dozens of standardized tests that purportedly tell government bean counters how well–or how poorly–students are doing. Then, they’re busy trying to create more “charter” schools or let parents get paid with taxpayer money to send their kids to private schools (where, unlike the public schools, kids can be expelled and then essentially be barred from other private schools, so guess where these troublesome kids end up).

Also, I have to admit a bit of curiosity on the “teachers using their low pay to excuse a sub-par job performance” meme. Let me ask you what YOU would do when your employer decides to pay you an amount that is barely minimum wage level for a job that requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and you’re required to deal with hundreds of teenagers who don’t want to be there and, on top of it, you’re forced to deal with parents who seem incredibly DISinterested in their children’s welfare (except when Junior’s bad grades are keeping him from playing football or basketball and then it’s YOUR fault as the teacher for not spending enough time with Junior while spending too much with the other 30 or 40 kids in Junior’s class). Then, you have to spend hours of YOUR FREE TIME grading tests and planning lessons, with NO overtime pay (on top of which, you get to come in to work 30-60 minutes before your “scheduled” time and stay 30-60 minutes afterward). You may be required to oversee student club activities and spend your “lunch hour” monitoring the lunchroom or patrolling halls making sure students are where they’re supposed to be. And then, after all that grief, you tune in the news and hear some politician blaming YOU as the sole cause for the failure of the public school system and that YOU need to step up your game because you’re being paid such an exorbitant sum of money for “so little work.”

You’re tired of shit? Well, so am I. Mainly I’m tired of people who whine about stuff when they really don’t know what they’re talking about. Gee. You could pass for any of the current crop of GOP presidential candidates.

    JosephW,

Don’t forget, its not the teachers who are destroying education; its the UNIONIZED teachers. Break the unions and all will be right with the world and Johnny will get learned good!

    I’m tired of writing this.

Too bad. I would like to have read more.

    Joseph W:
You’re dead on about it taking two to make a baby. The men need to step up and take responsibility for their horniness.

Other the other hand claiming voter fraud doesn’t exist and then citing two examples of voter fraud seems contradictory.

In Missouri, 15 counties have more registered voters than population. In Kansas, six counties have more. If people can get to the polling place, then it shouldn’t be too much of an imposition to get to a license office and get an ID.

Yes, James O’Keefe committed voter fraud to call attention to it and prove it could be done. In the 1960’s black people sat at segregated lunch counters to call attention to the discriminatory practice. They were breaking the law too. How is this different?

    Joseph,
First of all, thanks because you’re obviously passionate about what you believe and you have proven this with your comment. Passion is the first step to actually getting something done in this world.

Second, I just want to explain, or clarify, a few things regarding how you perceived what I wrote.

    When I say:
“On the other hand, I’m also tired of teenage girls using abortions as a form of contraceptive.” It’s because I’m really tired of that shit. Not because I watch Fox News (I don’t even have cable). But because I have met a few of these girls over the years. And I’m actually pro-choice, but with limits on the youth. These young girls are causing harm to their bodies by having these multiple forced abortions and they are completely ignorant to the consequences. Who cares about these young girls? Obviously not Planned Parenthood, which I’m sure if there was an audit of abortions, you will find plenty of teen girls that may very well have 12 abortions per year. I don’t have proof, but I don’t need it, because I personally know more than one girl that has had at least three or four abortions in a year (and those are they only ones I know of, could be more).

Further, you’re absolutely right about “it takes two to make a baby” but I should add that it only takes ONE to destroy it. Fathers don’t have a choice when it comes to a woman’s right to choose. Whether they keep a baby or not, the blame falls on the parents of these young girls, and the girls themselves. Why do I gotta pay for daycares in high schools or for schools for pregnant girls when I don’t even have kids myself??? I’m being penalized for being responsible and not bringing babies into this world when not ready? Bullshit. You make it, you pay for it. Leave me out of it. You can have the right to choose, but I have the right to choose too, and that choice is not to pay for your life’s choices.

Regarding teachers, same deal. I’m actually friends with incompetent teachers and I know that they’re not motivated to do their jobs because they don’t get paid or appreciated. But I don’t care, if you suck as a teacher, then you suck as a teacher. But you can’t even fire a teacher without a lawsuit. So money is getting taken out of the money I earn to pay someone who’s not doing their job? Teachers need to stand up and not only demand respect and better pay, but they gotta get those bullshit teachers out of their worksites. Teachers know that there is plenty of incompetence around them. But no one is going to take teachers seriously and pay them what they’re worth (which should be up there with doctors and lawyers) until they clean out their pantry of these bad apples. One bad apple ruins the rest. How would doctors expect to get paid major bucks, if fifty percent of the patients they see end up dying or sicker? Or how can a lawyer get paid if half his clients end up in jail? I appreciate teachers, but the way to really show them respect is by getting rid of incompetent assholes in their system and a messed up administration, sprinkled with a few child molestors in there. Yes I said it. If people don’t like it, get mad at the molestors, not me.

And finally you’re right. I could pass for a GOP presidential candidate. But people probably wouldn’t vote for me because I tend to speak the truth, regardless of what society thinks.
