Sicker Than A Mofo, by Q. Reyes – Artistic Warfare #83

October 10, 2010 Q. Reyes 3 Comments

I’ve been sicker than a mofo.  Not mentally (arguably), but my throat has been killing me all week.  I’ve done it all – honey & lemon, warm water & salt, just salt, cayenne pepper, brandy & lemon, cold stuff, hot stuff, no stuff, more stuff.  Nothing worked.

I was putting off going to the doctor, because the fact is that I hate waiting.  I feel like hospital waiting rooms are germ & decease filled rooms that only get you sicker if you spend enough time there.  But I needed to do something.  I wasn’t even able to drink water because my throat hurt so much.

So I’m at the Kaiser waiting area on Saturday and it actually didn’t take as long as I thought.  They called me in, took my blood pressure, etc.  I was taken to the examination room and the doctor came in just in a couple of minutes. I was more than impressed.

She was a younger, and prettier doctor than the doctors I remembered growing up.  She was in a super good mood and it put me in a better mood.  She looked at my throat and was making fun of me… “who you’ve been kissing?” she said.  I liked her a lot.  Too bad I couldn’t talk back because of my throat being in pain, plus I looked like shit.  Not that I had a chance with her, but damn, a man has to have pride.

She prescribed a shot on my butt (which hurt like hell) and some antibiotics I have to take for ten days.  I woke up feeling at least seventy-five percent better.  However, I’m not sure if it was the medicine, but I had a bunch of crazy ass dreams. I could not stop dreaming all night.

The point to all this is that we never appreciate our health until it’s gone.  Every time we’re sick we remember how good we felt before being sick.  But when we’re healthy, it’s easy to forget how horrible it is to feel sick.

So sure, now that I’m sick, I’m going to “eat better and exercise regularly”, but I’m sure as soon as I forget, I’ll be back to cheeseburgers and beer.

So please, if you’re reading this right now, take a few moments to appreciate your health.  Without your health, all those dreams you’re working so hard on will not happen.  So do something right now to maintain your body healthy – especially staying away from Asian women.

I dunno — a steady diet of bacon and Asian women doesn’t seem to have hurt MOTU. Outwardly, at least.

Hot flirtatious doctors always make me feel better.

Bacon and Asian women, that’s the new title of my autobiography.
