Inevitable Envy, by Q. Reyes – Artistic Warfare #90

I’ve been learning the hard way that the better you think you are, the more someone else thinks you’re not – and they’ll do whatever it takes to prove it.

If I was to describe envy, I’d say it’s like a virus that infects a person, making them lose all sense of reality – for their new reality becomes their obsession of what someone else is about.

Envy varies from wanting someone else’s car or house to wanting someone else’s talents or skills.  It’s hard to spot envy sometimes because a lot of the time it comes from those closest to us.

Have you ever hated someone and didn’t have an exact reason why?  Most likely you’re envious of that person, and don’t even know it!  Envy first attacks your ego, and your subconscious immediately starts to look for trivial reasons to hate or not like someone.

We all have experienced envy at one point or another – whether we’ve been on the receiving end or we’ve dished it out.  It’s an inevitable human condition that comes from our need of competition for survival.

Most people in America are stuck living a life they don’t want to live.  They might be stuck in a relationship they don’t want to be in, or they’re in a job they hate, or plain and simple they wish their lives were better in general.

The problem with most people is that instead of looking within themselves and trying to figure out why or how to get out of the place they’ve built for themselves, they rather envy others.

So instead of saying “I don’t want to be in this job,” they rather say, “So and So doesn’t deserve THEIR job”.  For some people it’s easier to bring everyone else down than to bring their own selves up.

So next time you don’t like someone, look within you and ask yourself… what is it I envy about this person?  If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll find out.
